This privacy policy explains:

Some of the information we collect, store and use may include personal data, such as your contact details. In this privacy policy, the data controller is Broadway Stage Academy.

Data Protection Principles And Rights 

The legislation sets out various data protection principles, to ensure any personal information is used fairly and lawfully for limited, specifically stated purposes, is accurate, and is kept securely for no longer than is absolutely necessary. 

Individuals have various rights under Data Protection Law to access and understand personal data about them held by Broadway Stage Academy, and in some cases, ask for it to be erased or amended 

You should be aware certain data is exempt from the right of access. This may include information which identifies other individuals, or information which is subject to legal professional privilege by Broadway Stage Academy for the purposes of the education, training or employment of any individual. 

Why We Need Personal Data 

In order to carry out its ordinary duties to teachers, students and parents, we need to process a small range of personal data about individuals (including current, past and prospective teachers, students or parents). Uses of personal data will be made in accordance with legitimate interests, provided that these are not outweighed by the impact on individuals, and provided it does not involve special or sensitive types of data. The legitimate interests for which personal data is needed include: 

* To provide performance arts education and artistic services, 

* Maintaining relationships with current and former students, parents and teachers 

* To fulfil legal responsibilities, e.g. for tax purposes 

* To give and receive information and references about past, current and prospective students, including relating to outstanding fees or payment history, any educational institution or employer the student has attended or wishes to attend 

* To enable students to take part in examinations, and to publish the results of examinations or other achievements of students of the School 

* To make use of photographic images of students on the Broadway Stage Academy website and (where appropriate) on social media pages 

 

In addition, we may on occasion need to process special category personal data (concerning health, ethnicity, religion) or criminal records information (such as when carrying out DBS checks) in accordance with rights or duties imposed on it by law, including as regards to safeguarding and teaching agreements, or from time to time by explicit consent where required. 

How We Receive Personal Data 

Generally, we receive contact details directly, either verbally or as written correspondence. Data such as examination results and other achievements are collected during our normal activities. 

Some of our social media pages allow public comments. If you choose to comment, you must provide us with your contact details, to help us check all comments are genuine and lawful. No cookies are used in that process. 

Some of our social media pages allow instant messages or include contact forms. If you choose to use these features you will need to provide us with your contact details. We will only use this information to respond to your enquiry, and to provide you with further relevant information about our classes and events. 

Instant messages may use cookies that are necessary for those services to function, but no cookies are used for contact forms. You will still be able to use the contact forms if you disable cookies. 

What Personal Data Do We Collect 

The sort of personal data we collect, store and use may include: 

* names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and other contact details 

* past, present and prospective students’ attendance, exam results and awards 

* where appropriate, information about student and teacher health, and contact details for next of kin 

* references given or received about past, present and prospective students 

* correspondence with and concerning past and present teachers, pupils and parents 

How We Use Personal Data 

We do not and never will sell, rent, trade or distribute your personal data to any third parties for marketing purposes. 

Data may be shared with trusted service providers who are authorised to act on our behalf and have entered into data processing agreements with us. These services may include payment processing, event ticketing, database services, website hosting and email delivery services. In these circumstances your data will only be used for the agreed purpose relating to the service that they are providing, and cannot be used for any other purpose. We do not transfer any personal data to countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). 

We may also share your personal data if it is necessary to comply with any legal obligation, or terms of business; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Broadway Stage Academy, employees, students, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection. 

How We Protect Your Information 

All information we collect is held securely. We review our security arrangements and delete old data regularly. Our data is stored in the United Kingdom, but we reserve the right to store the data on carefully selected portable devices and in paper files. 

We will retain personal data securely and only as long as it is necessary to keep for a legitimate and lawful reason. Typically, the legal recommendation for how long to keep ordinary staff and student records is up to 7 years following departure from the School. However, incident reports and safeguarding files will need to be kept much longer, in accordance with specific legal requirements. 

Your Rights 

You have the right to access information held about you, and this right can be exercised in accordance with the relevant legislation. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you. 

You may request that we delete your information at any time. 

Your consent
